Improving Teaching & Student Learning
These initiatives provide evidence-based instructional resources and professional learning that help educators improve literacy, strengthen instruction, and support student success.
ALL Ohio (Advancing Literacy & Learning Science)
ALL Ohio provides free, research-based professional learning and resources that help educators improve teaching and student learning. Grounded in the science of reading, learning science, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the project translates research into practical strategies educators can use in classrooms across all subject areas.
Educators can access self-paced online learning modules, professional learning communities, workshops, and district partnerships that strengthen instruction, build leadership capacity, and improve literacy and learning outcomes for all students. Many learning opportunities also provide OhioChild Care Resource & Referral Association (OCCRRA) approved professional development credit hours, and educators can apply to participate in the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Accredited Literacy Learning Program, earning recognized credentials while expanding their expertise in evidence-based literacy instruction.

P20 Literacy Collaborative
The P20 Literacy Collaborative is a statewide partnership dedicated to improving literacy by strengthening the connection between teacher preparation programs and classroom practice. It brings together universities, school districts, professional associations, and state partners to ensure future teachers are prepared to provide high-quality, evidence-based reading instruction grounded in the science of reading.
Through collaboration and shared learning, the initiative helps improve teacher preparation programs, strengthens literacy instruction in schools, and builds lasting partnerships that support better reading outcomes for students across Ohio.

Academic, Behavior, and Cognitive Supports for Student Success (ABCs)
The Academic, Behavioral, and Cognitive Supports for Student Success (ABCs) project is designed to support students with low reading achievement and behavioral issues (e.g., self-regulation) that put them at risk of school failure and involvement with the juvenile justice system. ABCs uses an integrated curriculum that combines explicit literacy instruction and cognitive behavioral instruction to address academic and non-academic barriers to success.
Applicable as a Tier 2 support in traditional school districts, ABCs is also used to teach and support adolescents in juvenile detention/rehabilitation settings.
The project also supports educators by providing ready-to-use lessons, instructional materials, assessments, and professional learning that reduce planning time while ensuring students receive high-quality, evidence-based instruction.
