About the Scientific Research Children's Literacy Lab

The Scientific Research in Children’s Literacy Lab (SRCL) at the University of Cincinnati focuses on understanding and improving children’s language, reading, and writing development through research and teaching.

SRCL studies how children develop literacy skills and works to design and test effective instructional practices and assessments that support early learning.


Our Work

The lab partners with schools, families, and educators to:

  • Conduct literacy research in real learning environments

  • Develop evidence-based teaching strategies

  • Support teacher learning and professional development

  • Train students in educational research
