UC's Cybersecurity Boootcamps are designed for beginners and no knowledge of IT or cybersecurity is assumed. During these intensive bootcamps you will quickly go from entry-level information technology skills to intermediate cybersecurity skills.
The camp aligns with the outcomes in the CompTIA Security+ and Network+ certifications, and includes critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Upon successful completion, you will receive free vouchers for the certificate exam.
This program is for Ohio residents who are low income, partially unemployed, or totally unemployed. The University of Cincinanti will cover all tuition, fees, and additional costs to help you learn new skills and earn a credential that can lead to a good job! UC's cloud computing certificate training courses are taught by the faculty in our School of Information Technology and come with the benefit of access to UC’s Career Education Services.

Note: Students who earn CompTIA Security+ Certification and enroll in the UC BSIT Degree can seek Prior Learning Assessment and may earn credit IT-related courses.
The Security+ bootcamp is an intensive course in Information Technology Fundamentals and Cybersecurity. The camp is designed for beginners who can spend 30 hours per week on the course instruction, hands-on assignments, and discussions. The course begins with foundational learning in Information Technology, networking, and cybersecurity required for the in-depth cybersecurity topics that will be covered in the latter part of the camp. The purpose of this camp is to provide the student with an overview in practical information technology skills, intermediate skills in core cybersecurity functions, as well as, problem solving and critical thinking skills. The course outcomes are aligned to the CompTIA Security+ (SYO-601) professional certification exam objectives and aligns with employer needs. Knowledge gained in this course will prepare students for cybersecurity jobs such as Security Administrator, Security Analyst, or Security Specialist.
In order to learn the material quickly, it is expected that you will spend approximately 30 hours per week watching and reading the instructional material, researching concepts, practicing skills, and working with your group.
The camps are asynchronous meaning you can complete the material on your schedule. However, there are due dates weekly so you need to carve out the 30 hours each week starting on Monday and ending on Sunday. There will be optional synchronous office hours to assist you in your learning and optional synchronous panels with industry professionals, educational leaders, and IT experts.
