University of Cincinnati recognized with 16 rankings in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Programs

U.S. News and World Report (the global authority in education rankings) published its 2026 Best Online Programs rankings on January 27, 2025, recognizing the University of Cincinnati with 16 spots in the list of degree-granting university programs that affordably serve the educational needs of distance learners in a reasonable timeframe. Programs within the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology (CECH) represent seven of these rankings.

CPD Assistant Chief Matthew Hammer reflects on a career in policing

The two-time UC alum – he has a master's and PhD in criminal justice – was promoted to Assistant Chief in early 2025 and reflects on a challenging year in Cincinnati, his 26 years on the force, what led him to UC for graduate and postgraduate studies, and the learnings in place-based violence he's been able to apply to his work serving and protecting the people of Cincinnati.

KATV: Criminal justice alum/faculty receives medal of valor

UC alum John Wright, PhD, serves as a deputy with the Garland County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas. Earlier this month, while on patrol, he pulled an injured driver from a vehicle that had crashed and caught fire. Moments after the rescue, the car was fully engulfed in flames. Wright teaches online classes in the School of Criminal Justice.
