Academic Program
Educational Leadership
Master's Degree
The primary mission of the University of Cincinnati's Educational Leadership Program is to prepare excellent leaders for excellent schools. Hundreds of graduates of the program currently serve in school leadership positions throughout the Tri-State Area and are dedicated to the creation and facilitation of high-quality, successful learning environments for the children, families, and communities that they serve.
The program is fully accredited for the preparation of administrators by the Ohio Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The program also meets the standards for the preparation of administrators approved by the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) and for membership for the University Council for Education Administration (UCEA).
The Educational Leadership program provides graduate study, research, field experience and career development for all persons who aspire to, or presently hold, educational administrator positions. It is a principal licensure program and meets the requirements for licensure in the State of Ohio as well as in many other states.
One of the hallmarks of the Educational Leadership Program is the Leadership Development Academy. The Academy was initiated in 1986 as a collaborative effort with area school leaders to identify and support talented people who have the potential to become the "new leaders" in our elementary and secondary schools. The Academy currently serves as the induction experience for all degree and licensure programs and runs every day for six weeks at the beginning of the Summer Quarter.
