  1. CECH Undergraduate Scholarships:
    Apply Now!

    CECH is currently accepting applications for 2012-2013 undergraduate scholarships. The online application is available now until the January 31, 2012 deadline.

    In 2011, CECH awarded over $463,000 to more than 285 undergraduates in our College.  Scholarships are available to current undergrad students in the College with good academic standing (3.2 Cumulative GPA minimum), and include both financial need and merit based awards.  You must apply online to be considered, and submit a recommendation form.

  2. Dean Johnson named
    Citizen of the Year 2011

    CECH Dean Larry Johnson received the Citizen Cincinnatus Award of Excellence at the Cincinnatus Association’s meeting on December 18, 2011.  Johnson was presented the award by Cincinnatus President Al DeJarnett and Kent Friel, a Cincinnatus member and Chairman of the CECH Dean’s Advisory Council.  The award honors exceptional contributions of a Cincinnatus member to a panel, committee or a special assignment.

  3. Chanel Chisholm
    Outstanding Scholar-Athlete

    Chanel Chisholm, a senior in the nationally-ranked Criminal Justice program at UC,  is this month’s UC Scholar Athlete of the month, sponsored by the College of Engineering and Applied Science. Chisolm impressively maintains a college GPA of 3.2 while leading the women’s Bearcat basketball team.

  4. Honors Study Abroad
    in Ghana

    Olivia Schafer, a University Honors student and middle childhood education major from Bond Hill, traveled to Ghana over the winter break.  Schafer was one of 9 students in the University Honors Program who went on the study abroad trip to Ghana last month.

    The University Honors Program comprises the top 7 percent of UC undergraduate students from all majors. University Honors focuses on unique and challenging academic and hands-on experiences that reflect the themes of community engagement, global study, leadership, research and the creative arts.

  5. Early Childhood Hosts
    Reggio Emilia Educator

    The early childhood education program at the University of Cincinnati hosted one of the premier educators from Reggio Emilia: Projects and the Language of the Visual Arts: A Day with Lella Gandini. The program featured a full day workshop for educators and faculty. Gandini, Ed.D., is a leading scholar on early childhood education and has taught at Smith College and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.  She is  a U.S. liaison for the Reggio Emilia Approach and is the author of several books on early childhood education.
